I’ve spent most of my professional music life as a drummer. What has kept me working is not flashy playing; it is being prepared, listening, reading well, locking in and giving the music what it needs.
I’ve been playing for more than two decades. My background includes touring, cruise ships, studio work, production shows, rock and metal bands, sight-reading and more than 500 arena performances as the final drummer for Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey’s Red Unit.
I’m also a Vic Firth artist and a graduate of Atlanta Institute of Music and Media’s Drum Performance program.
Live drumming
I’m available for selected live work. I’m comfortable with charts, clicks, tracks, cues and musical directors, and I’ve worked across rock, pop, funk, jazz, country, Latin music, metal and production-style shows. The style can change; the job is still to be prepared and make the band feel good.
Remote drum tracks
If your song needs real drums, I can record them remotely and send organized multitrack files for your mix. I’m not interested in sending the busiest take I can play. I want the drums to make the song feel better.
We can work from a demo, click, scratch track, chart, reference track or production notes. If the arrangement needs options, I can send alternate takes or different approaches.
Studio and creative collaboration
My default is groove and feel first, then tone, texture and dynamics, and then complexity if the song actually wants it. I like records with a point of view, but I don’t need every project to sound like my own music.
